Acupuncture

Japanese acupuncture is unique from other forms of acupuncture. It uses very gentle and effective needling methods. Each session entails a whole body constitutional treatment, followed by symptomatic treatment using needles, moxa, structural alignment and cupping.  This is further supported with take home therapy, stretching, herbs and supplements, and diet changes if needed.

Acupuncture regulates the ionic flow within the body.  This in turn adjusts and regulates blood circulation within the body.  Acupuncture needles are painlessly inserted into specific points which connect via channels of charged ions throughout our body, connecting to both internal tissues and organs.  Thus acupuncture regulates health and disease by influencing hormones, nerves, muscles and blood circulation.  At the same time boosting your metabolism and immunity.

Japanese acupuncture is a complete and powerful therapeutic medicine for both preventing disease, remedying symptoms and maintaining health.

The following treatment types (cupping, moxa, setai) are included within an acupuncture treatment as needed:

blankCupping

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping increases blood flow to the area which in turn loosens muscles, encourages blood flow and sedates the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure).  Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines and rheumatism.

blankMoxibustion

Moxibustion involves the burning of the mugwort herb on or near the skin.  Used in Asia for more than 3000 years, its purpose is to stimulate and improve blood flow and circulation, and to reduce pain.  Patient experiences a warming sensation penetrating deeply into skin and muscles with no adverse pain or blistering.  Moxibustions effect on improving blood flow and deeply warming the area works to soften tight muscles and tendons, increase mobility in stiff or aching joints.  It is also an essential part of treatment for various other conditions.

Sei Tai Structural Alignment

Sei Tai is a form of structural alignment practiced in Japan for centuries.  Translated it means “to put right”.  It is a combination of shiatsu muscle and tendon release, osteopathic mobility and structural alignment techniques.  This structural release and realigning is incorporated within all acupuncture treatments as necessary.

Seitai works by realigning both the bodies soft tissue and skeletal structures.  The principle being to realign the passive skeletal structure through manipulation of soft tissue structure which is the active party, pushing and pulling the bones out of place as a result of “weakness” or tension.  As a result, seitai has a far longer lasting effect than simple bone manipulation, in which case the active soft tissue is un treated and will thus actively undo any “corrections” made.

This is an holistic approach to staying healthy through the lengthening of soft tissue and body alignment.  Thus there is always simple and fun homework to do in order to help retrain the bio-memory of your muscles back to their original state.
